Communications Agency
I completed a Spring 2026 internship with ROAR Communications Agency, a student-run marketing agency at Old Dominion University funded by the Mellon Foundation, and will continue into Summer 2026. Through this experience, I have worked across a wide range of creative and marketing projects, developing skills in graphic design, photography, content creation, and creative strategy. I collaborated with on-campus departments like the School of Public Service and contributed to diverse deliverables, including flyers, environmental designs, and branded visuals for clients such as Water Edge Winery. This role allowed me to explore multiple areas of marketing while strengthening my ability to turn ideas into cohesive, impactful visual content.

School of Public Service
Project 1
This project was affiliated with the School of Public Service at Old Dominion University, where I created design work for felt banners. These banners were made to hang in multiple offices of the School of Public Service. Each banner represents a different concept that the SPS represents. Environmental, Business,

Instagram Story Template
During my experience working with ROAR, I designed a series of Instagram story templates for their “Shot of the Week” feature. Each template was created to highlight different content while maintaining a consistent brand identity. This required me to think strategically about layout, typography, and visual hierarchy to ensure each story was both engaging and easy to follow.
Instagram carousel

This Instagram carousel was created to promote ROAR’s professional headshot services. Using Adobe Illustrator, I designed a series of slides that clearly communicated the value of high-quality headshots while maintaining a clean and cohesive visual style. As one of my later projects, this piece also reflects my growth in efficiency, as I became more comfortable using tools and shortcuts like copy and paste commands to streamline my workflow.
Menu Design
Waters Edge Winery

During my internship, I had the opportunity to create new menu designs for Waters Edge Winery that better aligned with their brand and atmosphere. I developed watercolor-style graphic menus that felt more vibrant and inviting, aiming to bring a fresh and elevated look to the space. I noticed that their existing branding leaned heavily toward a beach and boating theme, which didn’t fully reflect the winery’s identity or environment in Norfolk. Because of this, I wanted to create something more cohesive and visually appealing that would enhance the overall customer experience. In addition to the design work, I was able to meet with the client in person over lunch, which gave me valuable insight into their vision and allowed me to see the space firsthand. This experience not only strengthened my design skills but also gave me real-world client interaction experience, and it opened the door for potential future projects with them this summer.

I also had the opportunity to photograph a production called Castellations for the Old Dominion University theater department. This experience challenged me in new ways, especially because of the low lighting in the theater. Capturing clear, high-quality images in such a dark environment required me to adjust my camera settings carefully and be mindful of timing to get the best shots during the performance. It pushed me to improve my technical photography skills and adapt quickly in a live event setting. Overall, this experience helped me become more confident working in challenging conditions and expanded my ability to capture professional-quality content in different environments.
